1st Condition: The Order to Worship Allaah in Sincerity

The First Condition – Sincerity The Order to Worship Allaah in Sincerity: Allaah ordered us in His Book (the Quraan) to worship Him in sincerity. He said: { He is the Ever Living, there is no one that has the right to be worshipped but He, so invoke Him (call upon Him = make Du’aa to Him) , making all your worship sincere for Him Alone. All praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the Worlds (all that exists) } [Surat Ghaafir (65)]. { He is the Ever Living }; He was, is , and will always be Living. He does not die, while everything else does. { There is no one that has the right to be worshipped but He, so }, meaning: if you believe that He is the Ever Living and that there is no true God but He, then: { Invoke Him (make Du’aa to Him) , making all your worship sincere for Him Alone }, meaning: worship this God in sincerity; do not associate any other thing in His worship. This is done by doing the righteous deeds sincerely for Allaah's sake only, and not to show off, and not to set up rivals (partners) with Him in worship. In another Aayah, Allaah said: { So, call upon ( invoke = make Du’aa to) Allah, making your worship sincere for Him (Alone) , even if the disbelievers hated (it) } [Surat Ghaafir (14)]. { So, call upon ( invoke = make Du’aa to) Allah, making your worship sincere for Him (Alone) }. Again, Allaah ...
The sending of Prophet Muhammad (SAAWS)

The sending of Prophet Muhammad (SAAWS): Allaah said: { O people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) ! Our Messenger (Muhammad SAAWS) has now come to you, explaining to you much of that which you used to hide from the Scripture, and leave (i.e. leaving out without explaining) much (of what you used to hide) . Surely, there has come to you from Allah a light and a clear Book (the Qur'an) <15> With it (the Quraan) , Allah guides all those who seek His Pleasure to the ways of peace, and He brings them out of darkness, by His Will, into light, and guides them to the Straight Path } [Surat Al-Maai’dah (15 - 16)]. After Allaah mentioned the covenant He took from the people of the Book (= people of the Scripture), and how they breached their covenant, except for a few of them, He now orders them all to believe in Prophet Muhammad (SAAWS). And in this verse, there is an indication that Prophet Muhammad (SAAWS) was sent to all people; Arabs and non-Arabs; the polytheists and the people of the Scripture. And Allaah gives the people of the Scripture a clear sign of the truthfulness of Prophet Muhammad’s message: that he will explain to them { much of that which you used to hide from the Scripture }. The things ...
The status of the people of the Book before Islaam – 3

The status of the people of the Book before Islaam – 3: 2) Allaah said: { And from those who call themselves Christians, We took their covenant, but they have abandoned a good part of the Message that was sent to them. So We planted amongst them enmity and hatred till the Day of Resurrection, and Allah will inform them of what they used to do } Allaah said that, just like He took the covenant from the Jews, He also took the covenant { from those who call themselves Christians }, meaning: those who claimed to follow Issa (SAAWS). So what did they do? Allaah said: { they have abandoned a good part of the Message that was sent to them }, meaning: they breached the covenant as well. They abandoned both the text that was sent to them and abandoned acting upon it. So, what did Allaah punish them with? Allaah said: { So We planted amongst them enmity and hatred }. This means that they were divided into many groups and sects, and that every group believes that the other groups are deviated (or even disbelievers). This resulted in a lot of hatred and enmity amongst them. This enmity and hatred will last, as Allaah said, { till the Day of Resurrection }. This was ...
The status of the people of the Book before Islaam – 2

The status of the people of the Book before Islaam – 2: So what did the Children of Israel do with this covenant? Allaah shows that they transgressed; { So, because of their breach of their covenant }, they were punished by several punishments: 1- { We cursed them }, meaning: kicked them out from the Mercy of Allaah. This was their own choice; they willingly and knowingly transgressed. 2- { made their hearts become hard }, meaning: their hearts became unresponsive to the verses and the reminders of Allaah. Verses that describe Paradise do not make their hearts long to Paradise. Verses that describe the punishment of the fire do not trouble their hearts to make them stop doing the evil deeds. This is one of the worst types of punishment; having a heart that does not respond to guidance. 3- { They change the words (of Allaah) from their (right) places }. They were afflicted with changing and replacing the words of Allaah, both by corrupting their books and by corrupting the meanings of Allaah’s words. 4 - { (they) have abandoned a good part of the Message that was sent to them }. They were given the Torah and what Allaah revealed to prophet Musa (SAAWS). But they abandoned all that, both by losing parts of the text and by abandoning acting upon the text. They were ...
The status of the people of the Book before Islaam – 1

The status of the people of the Book before Islaam: 1) Allaah said: { And surely, Allah took the covenant from the Children of Israel (Jews) , and We appointed twelve leaders among them. And Allah said: "I am with you if you perform the prayer, give the Zakaah (obligatory charity) , believe in My Messengers and honor them, and give a good loan to Allah. Verily, (if you do this) I will remit your sins and admit you to Gardens under which rivers flow (in Paradise) . But if any of you, after this, disbelieved, he has indeed gone astray from the Straight Path.” <12> So, because of their breach of their covenant, We cursed them, and made their hearts become hard. They change the words (of Allaah) from their (right) places and have abandoned a good part of the Message that was sent to them. And you will not cease to discover deceit in them, except a few of them. But forgive them, and overlook (their misdeeds) . Verily, Allah loves the good-doers } [Surat Al-Maai’dah (12-13)] Allaah tells us in these two verses about the covenant he took from the Jews. He describes how He took the covenant from them, and mentions His promise to them if they uphold it and His warning to them if they do not. He said: { And ...
The First Condition: Sincerity

The First Condition: Sincerity The Messenger of Allaah (SAAWS) said: " Every action is accepted (or not) based on the intention behind it, and every person will be rewarded in accordance with his intention. So, whoever immigrates to Allaah and His Messenger, then he will be rewarded for immigrating to Allaah and His Messenger, and whoever immigrates for a worldly affair or to get married to a woman, then his immigration is for whatever he immigrated for ” [narrated by Bukharee and Muslim, on the authority of Umar ibn Al-Khattaab]. The Messenger (SAAWS) explains in this authentic Hadeeth the importance of the intention. [Hadeeth = text narrated from the Messenger of Allaah; authentic = correct = the Messenger (SAAWS) said it]. First, the acceptance of any deed depends on the intention behind it. If it was done for the sake of Allaah, it is accepted. Doing an act for the sake of Allaah means that performing this action pleases Allaah; either because Allaah ordered us to do it, or because He recommended that we do it. For example, if someone prays the Isha (night) prayer because Allaah ordered us to do it, then it is for the sake of Allaah. If he performs it because he is afraid of Allaah’s punishment if he misses it (because it is mandatory), then ...
Introduction

The Conditions for the Acceptance of Deeds Allaah said (speaking of Himself): { The One who created death and life to test you; which of you is best in deeds } [Surat-Al-Mulk(No. 67), Aayah 2] Notice that in this Aayah, Allaah said: { best in deeds }, and did not say: most in deeds. This means that quality is more important than quantity. Actually, for every deed to be accepted by Allaah, it must have two conditions: 1) To be done in sincerity; for the sake of Allaah only. 2) To be done in accordance with the teachings of the Messenger (SAAWS = Salla Allaah Alayh Wa Sallam). If any of these two conditions is not met, the deed is not accepted. Allaah said (addressing His Messenger): { Say: "I am only a man like you. It has been revealed to me that your God is One God. So whoever hopes for the Meeting with his Lord, let him perform righteous deeds and not associate anyone else in the worship of his Lord” } [Surat-Al-Kahf(No. 18), Aayah 110] Allaah’s saying: { perform righteous deeds }, means: perform the deeds that were legislated by Allaah (and taught to us by the Messenger) And His saying: { and not associate anyone else in the worship of his Lord }, means: that the deeds are only performed for the sake of Allaah This is the essence of Islaam. A person becomes a Muslim when he (or she) testifies (acknowledges based on belief in the heart) ...
